Accountability
What a gym accountability app should actually do
If “accountability app” just means reminders and a calendar of Xs, you already have that. It did not work. Real accountability has three parts: proof you were there, a person or team who sees it, and a consequence that is not a lecture from yourself.
Logs are not accountability
Hevy and Strong are excellent loggers. Use them for sets. They do not verify you were at a gym and they do not make your skip cost anyone else. Strava is the same idea for outdoor cardio. Different job.
Streaks only work if breaking them hurts
A private streak is a number you can ignore. A shared streak, a huddle, or a gym roster is a social contract. Pick the pressure you will still tolerate in six months. Daily shame-y group chats often collapse. Seasonal team sport lasts.
Verification or it is fan fiction
Photo-only proof gets staged. HealthKit-only proof can be a walk around the block. GPS-only proof can be a drive-by. Stack them: GPS at a registered public gym + session duration + a check-in photo. That is the OutGrind bar. HealthKit is a companion for rings, not the score.
What OutGrind is

Is a workout logger an accountability app?
No. Loggers record sets after you already showed up. Accountability is about the decision to walk in the door.
Do money stakes work?
Commitment contracts (StickK and similar) can work for some people. OutGrind’s public product is not a cash game. Gym Wars and Rivals are free team and head-to-head modes with verified attendance.
